Do you want to create a harmonious and energetically balanced home? Look no further than Feng Shui Bagua colors. Each section of the Bagua Map is associated with specific colors, and understanding their meanings can help you create a space that supports your goals and aspirations. In this article, we'll explore how you can use colors to enhance the energy in your home and improve your overall well-being.

Discovering the Meaning Behind Bagua Colors

When you study the Bagua Map, you'll notice that every area, or gua, is assigned a group of colors. These colors correspond to the expression of the Five Elements within each gua. For example, the Fame gua, which represents the Fire Element, is associated with red and its various shades. Incorporating these colors in your Fame area can help you build a better reputation and gain more recognition.

Specific colors are designated for each area of the Bagua Map.

Using Colors to Enhance Energy

Bringing color into your space doesn't have to be limited to painting walls. You can introduce the designated colors in various ways, such as adding pillows, lampshades, window treatments, chairs, vases, clocks, or other decor items. The key is to choose something that resonates with you and evokes positive emotions.

But what if you don't resonate with the designated colors? Feng Shui is about living with what you love. If you're in a blue phase, like me, you can incorporate blues into your space. The important thing is to choose colors that feel right for you and your home. After all, our personal preferences and individual energies vary, and Feng Shui should be tailored to our unique needs.

At my house it’s blue inside, outside and in the distance.

Choosing Wall Colors According to the Bagua Map

Many people believe that they have to strictly follow the designated colors for each gua when choosing paint colors. However, this is not the case. While you can certainly choose a color from the designated options, it's important to prioritize your own preferences. Balance can be achieved in various ways, and color is just one aspect of it.

For example, if your room falls under the Health and Family gua, which is ruled by the Wood Element, you can choose colors such as light seafoam blue or green. You can also incorporate the Wood Element by opting for stained wood cabinets instead of white painted ones.

Adding Color through Accessories

Accessories are a great way to bring color into your space. Pillows, throws, dishes, ceramics, vases, end tables, lampshades, and plant pots are just a few examples of accessories that can introduce color and enhance the energy of each gua.

Here’s just a few of the many blue accessories I use in my home, especially in the Health and Family area.

To maintain visual continuity throughout your space, it's recommended to select two to three feature colors and repeat them from room to room. This creates a harmonious flow and ensures a balanced energy distribution.

Embracing Neutrals and Personal Preferences

While some people prefer using a variety of colors, others lean towards neutrals. There's no right or wrong when it comes to color choices in Feng Shui. It's all about what resonates with you and enhances your personal energy.

For example, my mom is a fan of taupe. Her home is filled with various shades of this neutral color. The key is to balance the space using different Feng Shui tools and techniques that complement your chosen color scheme.

Incorporating Colors Into Big Ticket Items

If you have a color that you absolutely love and want to commit to using it in major components of your home, go for it! However, it's essential to be aware of the color and elemental recommendations for the specific gua it falls under. This knowledge will help you balance the room and create optimal energy flow and support.

For instance, if your kitchen falls under the Center gua, you might consider dark brown granite countertops. If your Knowledge and Self-Cultivation area is in the kitchen, you could opt for royal or navy blue cupboards to amplify the color energy.

Adding Color to Your Home: A Personal Journey

Creating a Feng Shui home is a personal journey that requires self-reflection and experimentation. Take an inventory of the colors you currently use in different guas and assess whether they correspond with the suggestions of the Bagua Map. If adjustments are needed, consider making easy modifications to start shifting the energy in your home.

The pillows on this chair used to be black. Ch’i energy shifted dramatically when these were added.

Remember, you don't always have to buy new items to incorporate color. Start by using what you already have. Experiment by moving artwork, trying different tablecloths, or adding new throw pillows. Small changes can have a significant impact on the energy and atmosphere of your space.
