Lyn Garcia, an esthetician and makeup artist, wanted her salon to reflect her personal style and cater to her clients' needs while supporting her growing business. Despite the limitations of her small, windowless 8 x 12' room, Lyn saw an opportunity to showcase the power of Feng Shui.
Embracing Change for Growth
Lyn's salon space initially lacked organization and balance. Through a thorough review of her requirements, we identified key elements needed for her work. These included a spacious treatment table, a magnifying light, storage solutions, and mirrors. Lyn was open to making significant changes.
Harnessing the Power of Color
With the goal of attracting more business, we decided to enhance the Wealth & Prosperity aspect through color. We chose Benjamin Moore's Portland Gray, a low VOC paint, to create a soothing and prosperous environment.
Creating a Spa-like Ambiance
To achieve a spa-like atmosphere, we aimed for a calm, clean, and organized space. We suggested creating a clerestory window or painting a "window" on the wall to symbolize the connection to nature. Although a physical window wasn't possible, Lyn opted for a mural with aspen trees, representing family and health. The mural had a red cardinal in the Wealth & Prosperity corner, drawing attention to abundance.
Furthermore, we advised Lyn to remove the hanging cabinets, thereby creating a sense of spaciousness. To maintain organization and aesthetic appeal, we recommended keeping "scary tools" hidden and displaying "beautiful tools" openly in attractive containers.
Amplifying Positive Energy
Lyn embraced our recommendations, resulting in remarkable changes. The walls were now adorned with Portland Gray, creating a harmonious backdrop. The aspen tree mural in the Family & Health area added a touch of nature, while the red cardinal symbolized prosperity. Lyn created a private space for changing by hanging a white curtain, denoting the flow of wealth to her business.
With the removal of the white storage cabinets, the treatment table became easily accessible and safer to maneuver around. Lyn curated her tools and makeup, organizing them in a newly installed cabinet with closed storage. The white metal containers on top of the cabinet represented the Metal Element, supporting the Children and Creativity aspect.
By strategically placing circular mirrors at different heights, Lyn not only enhanced her clients' experience but also created a positive energy flow along the Helpful People/Travel and Career/Journey wall.
Achieving Success
Months later, I revisited Lyn's salon and was delighted to find that she had implemented most of our recommendations. The salon's transformation was remarkable, and the positive changes were evident. Lyn's business was thriving, and her clients were ecstatic with the new ambiance. Feng Shui had played a significant role in achieving her goals.
