I have some exciting news to share with you! My husband and I have decided to give our home office a much-needed makeover. With my husband working more from home and my own need for a functional workspace, it's time to create a productive environment that suits both of us.
The Before: A Room in Desperate Need of Change
Let me show you the current state of our home office. As you can see from the image below, it's cluttered and unappealing. The furniture is outdated, with chairs that have seen better days. However, the room does have a redeeming feature - a beautiful window that floods the space with natural light.
Embracing Modern Home Office Ideas
Our plan is to transform this dull space into a welcoming, clean, and functional home office. I found inspiration in various modern home office ideas, as seen in the image below. I particularly love the dark-colored built-in cabinets, which I believe will complement the abundant natural light in our office.
Design Plan: The Vision Unveiled
Without further ado, let me take you through our design plan for the home office. First and foremost, we will be installing beautiful built-in cabinets that provide ample storage space. These cabinets will have both open shelves for styling and closed storage to keep things organized.
To add character and style, we've chosen Benjamin Moore's Hale Navy color for the cabinets. We tested a paint sample and instantly fell in love with the deep, sophisticated hue.
We plan to keep some of our existing home office furniture, such as the gold and white desks. However, we'll be upgrading the chairs to ones that are more suitable for long work hours. Comfort and style are both important considerations when selecting office furniture.
Additionally, we'll be introducing a woven bench to provide extra seating and storage. This piece will add warmth and texture to the office, creating a cozy atmosphere for visitors.
To tie everything together, we've selected a rug with a mix of light and dark shades. This rug will complement both the natural light and the dark cabinets, creating a harmonious balance in the space.
Final Touches: Moulding and More
As a finishing touch, we're considering installing panel moulding wainscoting on the walls. This will add a touch of elegance and sophistication to the room. We might even combine this idea with a fresh coat of paint for a truly unique look, similar to the trim work we have in our powder bathroom.
That's it for now! We're eagerly awaiting the installation of the cabinets and can't wait to share more updates with you. Stay tuned for the final reveal of our transformed home office.
Until next time!
