When it comes to finding the perfect paint color, the search can be both exciting and challenging. So, imagine my delight when I stumbled upon the ideal warm, smokey grey paint color. I couldn't wait to share my find with you!
A Journey to Find the Right Shade
I had previously painted the nursery with a color called Ashes from Behr, thinking it was the true grey I desired. However, it didn't quite meet my expectations. I found myself unable to complete the room, lacking a clear vision. But all that changed with a visit to Restoration Hardware Baby and Child. Little did I know, this trip would set the stage for my discovery.
The Perfect Smokey Grey Revealed
After repainting the nursery, I finally found the paint color I had been longing for. This custom color is what I would call the perfect smokey grey. Its warm and inviting tones make it almost like a greige, and I fell in love with it instantly.
Making Comparisons
To fully appreciate the beauty of this new color, let's compare it to the previous Ashes color that I tried to convince myself I liked. As you can see, the difference is glaring. The Ashes color appeared more blue than grey, completely missing the mark I was aiming for.
The Serendipitous Encounter
Curiosity led me to explore the paint offerings of Serena and Lily, where I stumbled upon the color Mushroom. It was love at first sight, especially when I saw it beautifully painted in one of their nurseries.
Bringing the Perfect Color Home
Before I could embark on my painting journey, I ordered a sample of Mushroom from Serena and Lily, costing me a mere $6. Instantly, I knew I had found the color I had been yearning for. Unable to wait for gallons of paint to be shipped, I took my sample to Sherwin Williams, where they expertly color-matched it to perfection.
The Ideal Finish
To achieve the desired aesthetic, I opted for a Matte finish for the walls. It strikes the perfect balance between flat and satin, providing a rich look that complements our textured walls beautifully.
The Formula for Success
For those interested in recreating this custom color, here is the formula for Sherwin Williams to follow:
Please remember that colors can appear differently in various lighting conditions, so it's essential to test the paint in your own space before committing.
A Glimpse of the Future
With the nursery bedding on its way, I can't wait to transform the room completely. The final result, with a soft pale pink accent, will undoubtedly be a sight to behold.
The Imperfections of Life
I apologize for the less-than-stellar photos, as my camera has suffered some mishaps recently. But fear not, I have an exciting surprise to share with you—a new chandelier that my husband has just hung in the nursery, adding a touch of elegance.
