If you’ve ever read anything about feng shui, you know that the proper flow and movement of energy in the home, called chi, can make all the difference between happiness, success, and prosperity. And part of that flow directly relates to the way furniture is placed. When furniture isn’t arranged properly, this can create blockages, unpleasant surprises, and a lack of growth and success. Read on for tips on how to maximize your home's energy and your good fortune through good feng shui furniture placement.

The Living Room

This room represents the whole home and holds significant importance. It's where the family gathers, making it the heart of the home. To invite energy movement, compatibility, and family harmony, arrange the furniture in a conversational manner. Position chairs and sofas to face one another rather than at right angles. This encourages togetherness, conversation, and a sense of unity. If possible, avoid placing the TV or fireplace in a way that is perpendicular to the seating area.

The conversational arrangement emphasizes people over focal points, enabling chi to flow freely and smoothly around the furniture. This arrangement promotes prosperity, health, happiness, and fosters opportunities for the family to bond.

The Living Room

The Bedroom

Second to the living room, the bedroom is a place where a solid support behind the bed contributes to better health and a more restful sleep. Position the bed so that occupants can see the entrance to the room from it. Placing the bed on the same wall as the door can invite unwelcome surprises. Additionally, avoid placing the bed on a wall shared with a toilet, shower, tub, or sink. If no solid wall is available for the bed, angle it in a way that enables a view of the door. A large dresser placed behind the bed in the corner can serve as a symbolic wall.

The Dining Room

The dining room represents the wealth and health of the family. It is a space for sharing food and creating cherished memories during special occasions. To enhance its appeal and abundance, the dining table should be solid and positioned in the center of the room. Adequate lighting is essential to create an atmosphere of prosperity. The head of the family should sit at the end of the table furthest from the entrance, as this is considered the command position.

The Home Office

While the placement of a home office used for occasional tasks like bill payment or homework may not be critical, it is crucial to create an environment that encourages prosperity and the arrival of new opportunities when the office is used for work or running a business. Pull the desk out into the room, rather than pushing it against the wall, to symbolize an open path for prosperity. Ensure that the desk has a solid wall behind it, similar to the bed, to represent support in business endeavors. A generously sized desk and a full executive chair symbolize success and provide ample space and comfort for work.

By following these furniture arrangement tips based on feng shui principles, you can enhance the energy flow in your home, invite harmony, and create an environment that supports your well-being, success, and prosperity.
