Do you know what lies beyond the white beaches and green forests of Brazil? Let me take you on a journey to explore the fascinating world of Brazilian interiors. From raw concrete structures to vibrant color palettes, Brazilian design has a unique charm that captivates the eye.

Unveiling the World Design Ranking

To delve into the realm of Brazilian interiors, I turned to the World Design Rankings (WDR). This insightful resource ranks countries based on the number of designers who have received the prestigious A’ Design Award. It serves as an exhaustive list of projects from around the globe, making it a treasure trove for design enthusiasts like myself.

The WDR proved to be an invaluable source for discovering new projects and talented designers to follow. As an interior blogger, I find it to be one of my favorite sources, alongside other gems I've shared in a previous post about sources for interior bloggers.

The Essence of Brazilian Interior Style

Brazilian interiors have distinct characteristics that make them truly exceptional. They often feature raw concrete elements and exposed structures, reminiscent of the brutalist style. Monuments of space and height create a unique sense of grandeur, while the blurring of indoor and outdoor spaces is achieved through the abundant use of local wood and greenery. Color plays an important role, with a trend towards vibrant and bold hues that add life and energy to the spaces.

Exploring Brazilian Homes

Let's now embark on a visual journey through a selection of remarkable Brazilian homes:

Limantos Residence

Designed by Fernanda Marques, this residence in São Paulo draws inspiration from the rationalist architecture of Mies van der Rohe. It seamlessly integrates glass elements with the surrounding landscape, creating a harmonious fusion of nature and design.

Tetris Residential House

Located in São Paulo, this project by Marcio Kogan & studiomk27 features a wooden box that houses the living areas and opens up to a spacious garden. The slatted wooden ceiling adds a cozy touch, contrasting with the grandeur of the space.

Campeche Beach House Summer Penthouse

Juliana Pippi's creation stands out with its use of natural elements like wood, bamboo, bricks, and cement. The rustic materials blend beautifully with sophisticated design items, creating a unique and captivating atmosphere.

Bossa Nova Residential Apartment

Designed by David Guerra, this apartment in São Sebastiao das Aguas Claras showcases a functional yet elegant space. The inspiration for its cozy interior comes from the contrasts of nature, with a careful mix of textures and colors.

Pocket House Residential

Cristina Menezes transformed a standard 40-foot container into a sustainable house in Belo Horizonte. By removing the side walls and adding glass doors, the design brings the beauty of the outdoors inside, creating a harmonious union of nature and architecture.

Vila Leopoldina Loft

This 70 square meter loft in São Paulo reflects the modern lifestyle of its owner, a young actor. Its integrated layout, separated only by a curtain, adds a touch of drama. The burnt cement finish provides a neutral backdrop for an unexpected mix of burgundy, lilac, purple, and yellow accents.

Tempo House Residential House

Located in Rio de Janeiro, this project by Gisele Taranto Arquitetura is a complete refurbishment of a colonial house. The goal was to seamlessly integrate the exterior garden with the interior spaces, creating a harmonious connection between nature and art. The neutral interior serves as a perfect backdrop to showcase the client's exquisite art collection.
