Nicolas Kerdiles, a name that resonates with the world of ice hockey, left an indelible mark on the sport. Born on January 11, 1994, in Lewisville, Texas, Kerdiles had a promising career that unfortunately ended prematurely. An Early Passion for Hockey

Growing up in a family that frequently moved due to his father's job, Kerdiles finally settled in Irvine, California, where his interest in roller hockey blossomed. At the tender age of eight, he transitioned to ice hockey and joined the Los Angeles Kings youth affiliate. Kerdiles even participated in the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament, showcasing his talent and passion for the game.

A Stellar Rise in Ice Hockey

Kerdiles' talent soon caught the attention of many, leading him to join the USA Hockey National Team Development Program. He made his mark in various tournaments, winning medals and receiving accolades. In the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, he was selected by the Anaheim Ducks as the 36th overall pick, officially launching his professional career.

College and International Success

Kerdiles continued to shine during his time at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His exceptional performance helped the Badgers win the Broadmoor Trophy as the WCHA playoff champion. Additionally, he represented his country in the 2014 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, where he emerged as the leading scorer for Team USA.

The Professional Journey

Kerdiles signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Anaheim Ducks in 2014. He made his professional debut with the Norfolk Admirals during the Calder Cup playoffs. Despite facing a concussion and other challenges, Kerdiles had the opportunity to make his NHL debut in 2017, becoming the first player raised in Orange County to play for the Anaheim Ducks. Later, he joined the Winnipeg Jets before injuries limited his playing time.

A Tragic End

After his hockey career, Kerdiles embarked on a new path as a real estate broker in the Nashville area. However, tragedy struck on September 23, 2023, when he lost his life in a motorcycle accident in Nashville at the age of 29. The news of his sudden demise sent shockwaves through the hockey community.

Nic Kerdiles will always be remembered for his remarkable talent, dedication, and passion for the game. While his time was cut short, his impact on ice hockey will forever be etched in our hearts.
