If you were asked to think of common technology products, office chairs probably wouldn't be the first thing that comes to mind. Chairs are often overlooked and rarely considered as technology. However, the act of sitting has become an art, and the right chair can make or break your productivity. That's why when Jony Ive, Apple's design guru, handpicked Vitra's Pacific Chair as the seat of choice for Apple Park, I knew I had to try it out for myself.

A Perfect Blend of Form and Function

Designed by Jay Osgerby and Edward Barber for Swiss furniture maker Vitra, the Pacific Chair perfectly complements the aesthetics of the Apple Park campus. Its modern design exudes elegance and sophistication, making it a standout in any workspace. Unlike traditional office chairs, the Pacific Chair is built for the way people work today, without sacrificing visual appeal.

Tailored to Your Preferences

One of the great things about the Pacific Chair is the wide range of customization options. With three different models offering low, medium, or high backs, and various armrest and frame configurations, you can personalize the chair to suit your taste and comfort. Additionally, you can choose from seven different materials that come in unique and striking colors.

Functionality with a Touch of Luxury

While the Pacific Chair may not appear as ergonomic as some of its competitors, it offers excellent comfort and support for long hours of work. Its solid build and sturdy controls ensure a stable and reliable sitting experience. Adjusting the chair to your preference may require a bit of tinkering, but once you find the right configuration, you'll enjoy the benefits it provides.

Aesthetic Appeal Comes at a Price

It's worth noting that the Pacific Chair comes with a premium price tag. Starting at $1,185, and over $1,500 to build a configuration similar to Apple's, it's certainly an investment. However, the chair's build quality and design surpass that of any office furniture on the market. In many ways, it shares the same premium character we've come to expect from Apple products.

The Perfect Choice for Style and Productivity

The Pacific Chair is not just a piece of office furniture; it's a statement of good taste. Its sleek design and attention to detail make it a perfect fit for modern workspaces. While it may feel more like a showroom piece than a functional chair at first, its comfort and durability will soon convince you otherwise. It may not help you invent the next iPhone, but it will certainly enhance your work environment.
