A successful real estate agent based in Victoria, British Columbia, she was brutally murdered after receiving a strange phone call from an unknown client. How Did Lindsay Buziak Die?
At the age of 24, Lindsay Buziak was just starting her career as a real estate agent when she received a call that would change her life forever. The caller, a woman with a strong Mexican or Spanish accent, claimed to be looking for a million-dollar house for her husband who had been transferred to Victoria. Intrigued but cautious, Lindsay agreed to show the couple several listings that matched their requirements.
On February 2, 2008, Lindsay had scheduled a showing at a vacant house on De Sousa Place. Her boyfriend, Jason Zailo, offered to accompany her, but Lindsay insisted on going alone. Little did they know that this decision would have tragic consequences.

When Jason arrived at the house, he saw a man inside and became increasingly concerned for Lindsay's safety. As he waited outside, hoping for her return, minutes turned into an eternity. Worried and unable to reach her, he called 911. Jason and a friend of his decided to explore the property further and discovered Lindsay's lifeless body in the master bedroom. The police later determined that Lindsay had been stabbed multiple times, and her time of death was estimated to be around 5:40 pm, just minutes before Jason arrived on the scene.
Who Killed Lindsay Buziak?
Lindsay's murder shocked the community and left everyone searching for answers. Despite an active and ongoing investigation, the police have not publicly named any suspects in the case. However, they discovered that the calls from Lindsay's "client" originated from a prepaid phone with a Vancouver number that had no other contacts. Lindsay's father, Jeff Buziak, a vocal critic of the police investigation, has tirelessly sought justice for his daughter. In 2017, an anonymous confession was posted on his investigative blog, hinting at the identity of Lindsay's killer. While the authenticity of the confession is still a subject of debate, it sparked renewed interest in the case. Furthermore, a dress identical to the one worn by the woman who last saw Lindsay alive was discovered at a thrift store shortly after the confession. Jeff believes that this dress could be a crucial piece of evidence.
In 2021, a task force consisting of the FBI, RCMP, and Saanich police took over the investigation. With advancements in technology, including DNA analysis, they hope to shed new light on the case. They encourage anyone with information to come forward, as they firmly believe that individuals familiar with the circumstances surrounding Lindsay's murder remain in the community.
Lindsay's father continues to honor his daughter's memory by organizing an annual walk on the day she died. He holds onto the hope that justice will be served and that the mystery of Lindsay Buziak's murder will finally be solved.
