If you're like me, you're always on the lookout for inspiration when it comes to designing your dream home. As I gather inspiration images for our upcoming modern colonial home, I can't help but notice the similarities and differences from the modern cottage look we've been working on in our current house. While each style has its own unique charm, the modern colonial vibe brings a sense of elegance and sophistication to the table.

Embracing Trim and Moulding

In our new home, you'll immediately notice the abundance of trim work. Unlike our current house, where simplicity was key, we're going all out with layered moulding. Crown moulding, baseboards, and door casings will be artfully stacked, adding depth and character to every room. The more layers, the better!

With trim work as the backbone of the modern colonial style, expect to see intricate details throughout the house. This architectural feature instantly takes your home to a new level of sophistication.

Traditional Furniture with a Twist

A blend of traditional and contemporary elements is what makes the modern colonial style truly captivating. In addition to the rustic wood elements we loved in our modern cottage, we're excited to incorporate more traditional furniture shapes. Tile Floors: A Canvas for Creativity

When it comes to our bathrooms, it's time to have some fun with tile! In our modern colonial home, tile floors will be a common feature, providing a canvas for creativity. From vibrant patterns to subtle textures, the possibilities are endless. It's the perfect opportunity to add personality and style to these essential spaces.

Embracing Warm Wood Tones

Rich, warm wood tones are calling our name in the modern colonial style. We're moving away from the extremes of super dark or super light paint colors and embracing the beauty of mid-tone shades. Combining wood elements with these warm hues creates a cozy and inviting atmosphere.

Timeless Wallpaper Delights

Wallpaper has stood the test of time and continues to add charm to any space. In our modern colonial home, wallpaper will play a significant role. The bedroom, adorned with a spindled bed frame, classic-shaped nightstand, and delicate wallpaper, exudes a sweet and timeless appeal.

In the kitchen, we're excited to explore more mid-tone paint colors and create a space that reflects our unique style. Stay tuned for some exciting news about our kitchen transformation in our upcoming newsletter!

Captivating Scenic Wall Murals

An exciting feature we're considering for our modern colonial home is a breathtaking scenic wall mural. There's something so captivating about displaying gorgeous artwork from floor to ceiling. Just imagine the grandeur of a sweeping landscape or a whimsical garden setting. It's sure to leave a lasting impression on anyone who enters.

We're incredibly excited about the endless possibilities that lie ahead in our modern colonial home. While we're eager to see our vision come to life, we also understand that this process takes time. Curating the perfect furniture and decor is a journey in itself, but we're ready for the adventure. Our first step? Selecting a stain color for our white oak floors. Join us on this exciting journey!
