Hey there, friends! Today, I am beyond excited to share with you my plans and design direction for my new home, Bayberry House. Since moving in a couple of months ago, I've been busy with home improvement projects and now I'm ready to tackle the decorating part. So, grab your favorite beverage and let me take you on a journey through my vision of Modern Country Colonial.

Embracing a Refined Eclectic Style

For those who have been following me for a while, you know that my style has always been eclectic. While I love the beauty of different eras and designs, it also presents a challenge. So, with the decor of my new home, I wanted to refine my look a bit and create a cohesive feel. I'm calling this refined eclectic style: Modern Country Colonial.

Modern: Bright, Clean, and Orderly

Modern design, to me, is all about creating bright and clean spaces. I love using white to make a room feel crisp and light-filled. But I also believe in embracing color in unique and unexpected ways. A colorful space is a must for me, as it adds vibrancy and personality.

Another aspect of modern design that I adore is its intentional nature. As someone who appreciates many things, I understand the need to limit my selections and choose only what is functional or brings joy to my heart. Modern design also allows me to incorporate new technologies and features, making my home smarter and more connected.

Country: The Joy of Simplicity

When it comes to the country style, it's all about embracing moments that bring joy and spaces that inspire. I find myself drawn to the warmth and coziness of country design. Picture sitting around an outdoor fire pit with close friends, wearing jeans and a button-down shirt, enjoying simple and seasonal snacks served on rustic wood cutting boards. That feeling of togetherness and simplicity is what country means to me.

There is an authenticity to the country style that I love. It's about using real wood and finding vintage treasures with stories to tell. Gingham, plaid, and cozy textures create a welcoming atmosphere that instantly feels like home.

Colonial: Working with the Bones and Style

Since my house is a colonial, it only makes sense to embrace its style when designing the space. Colonial interiors are admired for their simple lines, rich colors, and emphasis on natural materials. It's about handcrafted elements that add a touch of authenticity and charm.

In my design journey, this means incorporating more molding throughout the house and custom cabinetry in the kitchen and other areas. It also gives me the freedom to blend traditional and rustic elements, creating a cohesive look that respects the bones of the space.
