Welcome to the grand reveal of our modern French country master bedroom makeover for the One Room Challenge! This project has been an absolute joy, as it's a space dedicated solely to my husband and me. I am over the moon with the final result—it's truly a dream come true! Come along on a tour of our newly decorated haven. Don't forget to check out the other amazing ORC makeovers linked below. I can't wait to see what the talented designers have created this season!

Before the Transformation

Let's take a trip down memory lane to see what our master bedroom used to look like. It was a serene space, adorned in shades of grey and white, with some DIY pillows for added comfort.

A serene grey and white master bedroom with DIY pillows. I could spend all day here.

A Breath of Fresh Air

And now, behold our modern French country farmhouse master bedroom! The first thing you'll notice is the fresh coat of light greige-colored paint, illuminating this north-facing room.

The rustic wood ceiling, installed during week 2 of the challenge, steals the show and adds a touch of warmth to the space. It also perfectly complements the ceiling fan.

A Vision Brought to Life

To ensure consistency and stay on track with the design, I created a mood board before selecting the furniture and accessories for the room. Every element in the space follows a neutral color palette, except for a couple of DIY floral throw pillows that I couldn't resist adding.

Our new centerpiece, the Hancock Park King bed from The Brick, demands attention with its distressed white paint and intricate details. It feels like something straight out of a Fixer Upper episode, exuding a Joanna Gaines vibe.

Attention to Detail

Adding character to the room, we incorporated an antique window above the bed. A touch of white and grey paint gives it a weathered look, seamlessly blending it with the overall aesthetic.

On either side of the bed, we have the glamorous Nicolet Accent Cabinets, doubling as nightstands. These cabinets perfectly match the height of our bed and offer ample storage—a convenient feature!

Of course, we can't forget the stunning barn door we installed during week 5 of the One Room Challenge. It not only adds a unique touch to this side of the room but also serves a functional purpose.

Cozy Comfort

Keeping the flooring in mind, we opted for a fluffy off-white rug to sit beneath our bed. Its neutral color doesn't distract from the beautiful ceiling feature, and it provides a cozy feel for our feet.

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

On the other side of the room, two Caroline Wing Chairs flank my first-ever full-length mirror. Not only does it add a touch of luxury, but it also reflects light, enhancing the overall brightness. The Hampton Mirror from The Brick is simply glamorous. To create a casual yet elegant ambiance, I chose to lean the mirror against the wall while securing it at the top.

A vintage-looking birdcage and faux greenery in the corner add a touch of French charm to the space.

Time to Relax

Our bed is adorned with my favorite linens—the Hampton Cream duvet and shams from Taylor Linens. The diamond-stitched pillows are a simple but effective no-sew DIY project. I also used the same fabric to create handmade drapes, tying the whole room together. An all-white bed with a pop of color in the throw pillows creates a visually appealing contrast.

A Dreamy Retreat

Imagine waking up in this beautiful space and enjoying a cup of coffee in bed. It doesn't get any better than that!

The Finishing Touches

Adding the final touches, we have a stunning sign from local artisan William Rae Designs displayed on the far wall. It's the perfect accent piece to complete the room.

A Romantic Ambiance

One of my husband's brilliant ideas was to install LED lights behind the crown molding in the tray ceiling. During the day, they provide warm and inviting lighting, while at night, they create a gorgeously romantic mood.

I can't get enough of this room—I could spend all day here! It's the perfect blend of rustic, glamorous, and vintage aesthetics. We are incredibly proud of all the hard work and dedication we poured into this project. The end result has made it all worthwhile.

Future Plans

Although we had hoped to finish our master bathroom during this challenge, it didn't quite happen. However, our vision for a separate space between the bedroom and our master closet remains on the to-do list for another day.

So, tell me, does this room radiate the essence of a modern French country space?
