In a different story, Lui Hai, a member of the Eight Immortals, sought out the mythical frog after learning about its ability to attract prosperity. Believing it had an insatiable appetite for money, Lui Hai used gold coins tied with red strings to lure the frog out of hiding. Today, paintings of Lui Hai using red strings and gold coins are still used as decorative items in homes.
Over time, standalone three-legged frogs gained popularity as symbols of wealth attraction. They are often made of brass, as metal enhances water, which is favored by the frog. However, it's advisable to avoid sculptures made of materials like resin or wood. Materials such as jade, crystals, and gemstones are also used, but it's important to consider their symbolic significance in relation to wealth.
Where to Place the Feng Shui Frog
Many people place the money frog anywhere, believing that it will bring wealth regardless of the location. However, if you practice feng shui, you know that "anywhere" is not sufficient.
Frogs are small, timid creatures that hide when threatened, so they should be placed in public areas where they can see you but remain somewhat hidden. Avoid placing them in bedrooms or kitchens. Living rooms, study rooms, dining rooms, and entertainment rooms are suitable locations, with the living room being the best choice.
Position the frog in elevated corners, not exceeding half a meter in height. Placing it on the floor at ground level is also acceptable to prevent the frog from feeling anxious due to heights. The frog should face the main door area or the area where the most energy enters if there is no main door. However, avoid placing it directly in front of the door, as it should have a clear path into your home.

How many to use?
Unlike solitary animals like tigers, you can have multiple money frogs in your house. However, it's advisable not to exceed nine, as nine is a number that completes the feng shui cycle. Following the ruling flying star number is a good guideline, and currently, we are in the period of 8.
An exception is if your house has a flying star birth chart with a sum of 10 Water star configuration, such as a house facing NE1 in the period of 8. In this case, you can have up to 10 money frogs, as the natal chart aligns with the number 10 in all sectors when combining the number of the Water star with the number of the base star.
Big money frog
If you prefer larger interior design pieces, you can opt for a statue of a three-legged frog instead of smaller objects. These statues can be as big as a medicine ball or even an exercise ball, making them visually and physically significant. If using them indoors, place them in a spacious living room, or outdoor placement is recommended. Avoid positioning them to directly face the main gate; instead, aim for a diagonal placement toward the front door.
