Living in a home with kids and no dedicated play area can quickly turn into a chaotic mess. Toys seem to multiply and take over every corner. But fear not! If you have some extra space in your living room, you can create an adorable and well-organized playroom living room combo that will bring harmony to your home.

The Key to a Functional Playroom Living Room Combo

If your home is anything like ours, it can often feel like living in a messy toy store. In my quest for a more organized home, figuring out the toy situation has become a top priority. After some brainstorming, I came up with a solution that works for our family - a "play nook" in a corner of our long, narrow living room.

I wanted the playroom space to blend in with the overall aesthetic of our home while still having a touch of personality and color for the kids to enjoy. It's all about finding the right balance between functionality and style.

Walmart Home: Your One-Stop Shop for Playroom Essentials

When it comes to home projects, Walmart Home is always my go-to. There are several reasons why I love shopping there. First and foremost, it's incredibly convenient. You can find everything you need, from furniture to decor, organization supplies, and even tools, all in one place. And you have multiple options for getting your purchases - free shipping, in-store shopping, or convenient curbside pickup.

Secondly, Walmart offers high-quality and beautiful products that fit any budget. As someone who likes to spend money wisely, this is a big win for me. I don't have to compromise on quality or appearance to get what I want.

Lastly, the selection at Walmart is simply amazing. They have a wide range of options in every category, ensuring there's something for everyone. Whether you're looking for storage organizers, curtains, or home decor, you'll find it all at Walmart.

Must-Have Pieces for Your Playroom Living Room Combo

To help you create the perfect playroom living room combo, here are some essential pieces that we used in our own space:

Better Homes & Gardens 12-Cube Storage Organizer

No playroom is complete without a good storage solution. Cube storage organizers make it much easier for both kids and parents to sort and organize toys. We chose a 12-cube option, but Walmart offers a variety of storage furniture in different colors and styles.

Better Homes & Gardens Large Natural Water Hyacinth Boat Basket

This piece may not seem like an obvious choice for a playroom, but it's perfect for storing oversized activity and coloring books that won't fit in traditional organizers. The natural look of water hyacinth adds a touch of beauty to any space.

Mainstays Linen Textured Semi-Sheer Rod Pocket Single Curtain Panel

Curtains can make a huge impact on a room, and they are an affordable way to transform your space. These sheer panels allow plenty of sunlight in, creating an airy and breezy feel. Consider switching to these curtains in your main living areas for a fresh and light atmosphere.

The Home Edit 8 Piece Multipurpose Edit, Plastic Storage System

If you're a fan of organized and clean spaces, you've probably heard of The Home Edit. They have recently launched a line of products exclusively at Walmart, and they are a game-changer. We used their multipurpose edit to corral extra art supplies and keep them well-organized. These products not only serve a practical purpose but also add a beautiful touch to your space.

Better Homes & Gardens 16" x 20" Matted to 11" x 14" Rectangle Metal Wall Mounted Picture Frame, Black

Don't overlook the power of framed art. These metal frames with matte glass give a sophisticated touch to your playroom living room combo. They look much more expensive than they actually are and can be used to display your child's artwork or family photos.

Better Homes & Gardens Collapsible Fabric Cube Storage Bin (12.75" x 12.75") - Cream Cross Hatch

To keep your playroom looking neat and stylish, cute storage bins are a must-have. We chose the cream cross hatch style to maintain a neutral aesthetic, but Walmart offers a wide range of options to suit any preference.

Chloe and Cotton XL Woven Rope Laundry Hamper, 19" x 16", White Jute

This laundry hamper has been repurposed to serve as a home for stuffed animals and dolls. It's soft and allows your child to easily find their favorite toys. Plus, it adds a touch of texture and charm to the room.

Incorporating a Playroom Into Your Living Space

When your playroom is integrated into your living room, finding the right balance in terms of decor can be a challenge. You have two options - go all-out with bright colors and playful elements or keep the decor more in line with the rest of your home.

For our playroom living room combo, we opted for a mostly neutral color palette with white, beige, and black accents. The toys themselves and our wall art, framed in gorgeous black metal Better Homes and Gardens frames, provide small pops of color.

We plan to make the wall above the cube storage a fun space that we can decorate seasonally and for different holidays. This way, we can easily swap out wall art and add seasonal elements like garlands.

Future Plans for Your Combined Playroom Living Room

The best part is that the pieces we used in our playroom living room combo can grow with our daughter and adapt to different areas of our home as our needs change. When the time comes to create a designated toy room, we'll already have a great start with these products. And of course, we'll continue to explore more goodies from Walmart Home.

In the future, we plan to add seating like a table and chair set or a small desk for coloring and eventually homework. We also have plans to label the storage bins with photos of what goes inside each cube, making it easy for even the youngest kids to keep things organized.
