Over the past 2.5 years, we've made little changes to this space to make it more organized and cohesive. But now, it's time for the playroom to have its own personality. The Before
At first glance, you might wonder what needs changing in this playroom. But trust me, there's room for improvement. Here are a few reasons why:
- Mismatched Furniture: Most of the furniture and decor in the playroom is leftover from previous room projects. It's time for a cohesive design that reflects our style.
- Change in Style: Our taste has evolved since moving into this house. We now want a colorful, collected, and eclectic space that truly reflects our personalities.
- Evolving Needs: Our kids are growing up, and their playroom needs to adapt accordingly. We want a space that can accommodate their changing interests and activities.
Considerations for Playroom 2.0

Functionality
When designing a space, functionality is key. Our playroom will continue to house toys, but as our kids grow older, they also want a fun hangout spot. We're also lucky to have an attached bathroom, which will come in handy for future family visits and sleepovers. We're planning ahead to create a space that can transition from pretend play to more creative activities as our kids get older.
Storage
Thankfully, the playroom has plenty of storage space. There's a large toy closet and a smaller one for dress-up. While we'll do some purging and rearranging during the makeover, major changes to the storage area won't be necessary. We will also be adding a media console and end tables for additional storage.
Seating
Finding the right seating setup for the playroom has been a challenge. We've tried bean bags, small chairs, and even a couch, accent chair, and train table combo, but nothing felt quite right. After considering the needs of our growing family and potential guest space, we've decided to go for a lounge-style feel. We'll be adding a twin daybed with a trundle and a hanging swing for some extra seating options.
Personalization
Since we have both boys and girls in our house, it's important to us to create a space with personalized elements that cater to everyone's tastes. We'll be incorporating both masculine and feminine touches, with fluffy textures, pops of pink, and structural designs in muted orange and green.
